Day 5: Attend & Sponsor a Local Community/Team/School Event

Welcome to Day 5 of the 12x12 Agent Fast Start Challenge! Today, you’ll get involved in your local community by attending and sponsoring a local event. This is an excellent opportunity to build your network, establish your presence, and create meaningful connections with potential clients.

Today's Objectives:

  1. Identify a Local Community/Team/School Event to Sponsor

  2. Attend the Event and Engage with Participants

  3. Follow Up with New Connections

1. Identify a Local Community/Team/School Event to Sponsor

Objective: Find and sponsor a local event near your open house location.

Steps:

  1. Research Local Events:

    • Look for local kids' events, sports teams, school activities, or community gatherings happening near the location of your upcoming open house.

    • Use community boards, local event listings, or contact local schools and community centers to find opportunities.

  2. Reach Out for Sponsorship:

    • Contact the organizers of the event to discuss sponsorship opportunities.

    • Allocate a budget of $100-$200 for sponsorship.

  3. Confirm Sponsorship:

    • Confirm the details of your sponsorship, including any promotional opportunities like banners, shout-outs, or booths at the event.

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours

Why This Is Important: Sponsoring a local event increases your visibility in the community and provides opportunities to connect with local residents in a meaningful way. It shows your commitment to supporting local activities and helps build goodwill.

2. Attend the Event and Engage with Participants

Objective: Attend the event, engage with participants, and build relationships.

Steps:

  1. Prepare Materials:

    • Bring flyers, business cards, and any promotional materials you have prepared.

    • Wear branded apparel if available to increase visibility.

  2. Engage with Participants:

    • Introduce yourself to attendees, parents, and organizers.

    • Mention your recent involvement in real estate casually in conversations, focusing on building relationships rather than selling.

  3. Be Approachable and Helpful:

    • Offer to assist with event activities or logistics if appropriate.

    • Show genuine interest in the event and the people attending.

Time Commitment: 4-6 hours

Why This Is Important: Attending and engaging in local events allows you to build personal connections and establish a presence in the community. It helps people see you as a supportive and approachable figure, which can lead to future referrals and business.

3. Follow Up with New Connections

Objective: Follow up with the people you met at the event to strengthen the connection.

Steps:

  1. Collect Contact Information:

    • During the event, collect contact information from people you engage with, such as phone numbers or email addresses.

  2. Send Follow-Up Messages:

    • Send a thank-you message to those you met, expressing your appreciation for the conversation and your interest in staying in touch.

Sample Follow-Up Conversation:

You: Hi [Name], it was great meeting you at [Event Name] today! I really enjoyed our conversation about [something specific you talked about]. How did the rest of the event go for you?

Them: Hi! It was great meeting you too! The event was a lot of fun. We had a great time.

You: That’s awesome to hear! I’m really glad I could be a part of it. I was thinking of doing some more stuff in the community, are there any other groups you'd recommend?

Them: Yes, actually! There’s a great community gardening group and a local book club that’s pretty active.

You: That sounds fantastic! I’ll definitely look into those. I’m hosting an open house at [Address] on [Dates]. It’s a beautiful property, and I’m really excited about it. If you happen to know anyone who’s looking to buy, feel free to share the info with them. 😊

Them: Sure, I’ll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks for letting me know!

You: Thanks! I really appreciate it. Looking forward to staying in touch and supporting more community events together.

Them: Absolutely! Looking forward to it.

You: Have a great rest of your day! Talk soon.
