Day 12: Sponsor a Local Business Event or Meetup

Welcome to Day 12 of the 12x12 Agent Fast Start Challenge! Today, you’ll focus on sponsoring a local business event or meetup to further expand your network and visibility. This is a great way to engage with the community, build relationships, and establish your presence as a real estate professional.

Today's Objectives:

  1. Identify a Local Business Event or Meetup to Sponsor

  2. Sponsor and Attend the Event

  3. Follow Up with Attendees and Organizers

1. Identify a Local Business Event or Meetup to Sponsor

Objective: Find a local event or meetup that aligns with your goals and arrange sponsorship.

Steps:

  1. Research Local Events:

    • Look for upcoming business events, community meetups, or industry-specific gatherings in your area.

    • Use platforms like Eventbrite, Meetup, and local business associations to find events.

  2. Contact Event Organizers:

    • Reach out to the organizers to discuss sponsorship opportunities.

    • Inquire about the sponsorship packages, costs, and the benefits included (e.g., speaking opportunities, promotional materials, event signage).

  3. Select an Event:

    • Choose an event that aligns with your target audience and offers good visibility for your real estate business.

    • Confirm the sponsorship details and make the necessary arrangements.

Time Commitment: 1-2 hours

Why This Is Important: Sponsoring a local event or meetup increases your visibility in the community and provides opportunities to connect with potential clients and referral partners. It positions you as a supportive and active member of the local business community.

2. Sponsor and Attend the Event

Objective: Engage with attendees, promote your services, and build relationships at the event.

Steps:

  1. Prepare Promotional Materials:

    • Bring business cards, flyers, and any other promotional materials that highlight your real estate services.

    • Prepare a brief introduction or pitch about your services if you have an opportunity to speak.

  2. Set Up Your Booth or Display:

    • If the sponsorship includes a booth or display area, arrive early to set up your materials.

    • Ensure your setup is attractive and informative.

  3. Engage with Attendees:

    • Introduce yourself to attendees and engage in meaningful conversations.

    • Focus on building relationships rather than hard selling your services.

    • Collect contact information from interested individuals for follow-up.

Sample Event Conversation:

You: Hi [Name], it’s great to meet you! What brings you to this event today?

Them: Hi! I’m here to learn more about [specific topic] and network with other local businesses.

You: That sounds great. I’m [Your Name], a local real estate agent. I love supporting and connecting with other businesses in our community. What kind of business do you run?

Them: I own a small marketing agency. We help local businesses with their online presence.

You: That’s fantastic! Online marketing is so important these days. How long have you been in business?

Them: We’ve been around for about five years now. How about you? How did you get into real estate?

You: I’ve always been passionate about helping people find their dream homes, so I decided to turn that passion into a career. I’ve been a real estate agent for [number] years now, and it’s been incredibly rewarding.

Them: That’s wonderful to hear. It’s great to meet someone who loves what they do.

You: Absolutely. If you ever have any real estate needs or know someone who does, feel free to reach out. Here’s my card. And if you’re interested, I’m hosting a workshop next week on selling homes for top dollar. It would be great to see you there.

Them: That sounds interesting. I’ll definitely keep it in mind. Thanks!

You: My pleasure. Enjoy the rest of the event!

Time Commitment: 4-6 hours

Why This Is Important: Actively participating in the event allows you to connect with potential clients and partners, build your network, and establish your brand in the community. Engaging in meaningful conversations helps you build relationships that can lead to future business opportunities.

3. Follow Up with Attendees and Organizers

Objective: Strengthen the connections you made at the event by following up with attendees and organizers.

Steps:

  1. Send Thank-You Messages:

    • Send a thank-you message to the event organizers, expressing your appreciation for the opportunity to sponsor and participate.

    • Follow up with attendees you met, thanking them for the conversation and offering to continue the discussion.

Sample Follow-Up Conversation:

You: Hi [Name], it was great meeting you at the [Event Name] yesterday! What did you think about the event?

Them: Hi! It was great meeting you too. The event was really informative and I made some good connections.

You: I’m glad to hear that! What part of the event did you find most valuable?

Them: I really enjoyed the networking sessions and the presentations on new marketing strategies.

You: That’s great to hear. I found those sessions valuable as well. It was wonderful to learn more about your marketing agency. How do you usually find new clients?

Them: We mostly rely on referrals and online marketing efforts. How about you? What’s your primary method for finding new clients?

You: I focus a lot on community engagement and building strong relationships. By the way, I’m hosting a workshop next week on selling homes for top dollar. If you or anyone you know might be interested, feel free to join us.

Them: That sounds interesting. I’ll definitely keep it in mind and share it with others who might be interested.

You: Thank you, I appreciate that. Let’s stay in touch and explore more ways we can collaborate in the future.

Them: Absolutely. Looking forward to it.

You: Have a great day!
